Overview

REAP's design is based on standard modules used as building blocks. The same parts, connections and engineering are used everywhere — so one design grows from a single home system all the way up to a large grid-scale installation made of many containers.

Modules come in a few standard layouts, named by their internal cell arrangement (such as 13S, 8S1P and 4S2P), and are built up into packs and racks that share a common power line. Every module is the same in size and wiring, so adding more capacity needs no custom engineering: you simply connect more modules to the existing power line, and the battery management system (BMS) automatically recognises and includes the new capacity. Each container holds a set number of racks, and containers can be placed side by side and combined to add more power and storage as needed.

Maintenance is simple: a faulty module is swapped out on the spot, without shutting down the whole system. This means faster repairs and lower long-term cost. The same building-block approach scales all the way up to the 5 GWh annual production capacity of REAP's manufacturing facility.
